Northbank Football Club Proposes Shared Use of Field

The club is asking the city to consider later U17 sessions and possible temporary lighting. Public access and neighbours’ needs remain part of the proposal.

Northbank Football Club has asked Lumina City Parks & Recreation to consider a shared use plan for Northbank Field during the autumn season. The proposal would give the U17 team two later training sessions each week and explore temporary, shielded lighting. No change has been approved and no new lighting has been installed.

The city-owned field sits in Northbank, across the river from Downtown. The club uses it under a seasonal arrangement, while a public walking path runs along its north edge. Training, nearby homes and everyday public access all form part of the discussion.

David Chen presents the request on behalf of the club’s adult board. Mara Bennett coaches Northbank FC U17, and adult youth lead Aisha Coleman supports players who want to explain their needs. Leo Garcia, 16, is a player and team captain; his perspective includes school-day routines, travel and getting home after training. The adults remain responsible for the proposal.

Ruth Miller, who uses the walking path regularly, wants clear passage, quiet evenings and places to pause. Other neighbours have questions about parking and light towards homes. These concerns do not mean that everyone holds the same view, or that the people involved are personally opposed to one another.

A Northbank Field Listening Evening is proposed in the club pavilion. It would gather players, neighbours and the municipal perspective, with an opportunity to discuss timing options and the walking path. The meeting would be advisory; the city would make any decision about field use. Its date, capacity, access details and facilities remain undecided. Registration is not open, and this article does not open a comments or submission channel.

This is a fictional demonstration story showing how a club’s request, public access and municipal responsibility can fit together without assuming an agreed outcome.
