About the event
This fictional demonstration event is an open meeting at Harbor Hall on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., America/Halifax. Lumina City Community Trust hosts it as part of Harbor Hall Renewal, after the Open Workshop Day. Admission is free, no sign-up is needed, and there are no tickets or payments.
The Trust will present draft Harbor Hall use and participation guidelines in three parts. First, who does what: the Trust looks after the building for agreed community purposes and explains who it answers to; Harbor Makers Cooperative would use a workshop room on written terms for a set period; residents of Quayside House are recognised as affected neighbours; and visitors can see what is open to them.
Second, taking part without membership. Anyone can attend, ask questions and give input. Affected neighbours are heard before the Trust decides and receive a written, reasoned reply. Members vote only on their own organisation's matters, and the Trust decides within its stewardship role. Giving input does not give a vote, and membership is not needed to be heard.
Third, showing disagreement. After a decision, the Trust would publish what was decided and by whom, the main objections, what changed after input and what did not, with reasons. People may hold more than one role, such as a Trust volunteer who also lives next door, and can say so openly.
The meeting starts with a short presentation, followed by small-group conversations on each part and a quiet table for written comments. It is advisory and takes no vote; the Trust would publish a summary afterwards. There is no online comment channel. Fictional demonstration content.
