    About the project

A proposed review of repairs, walking access, boat use, costs and dune protection at an existing East Dune dock. No work or new rights have been approved.

This fictional project proposal concerns repairs to an existing, unnamed dock in East Dune. Its status is Proposed. It asks what repair would serve, who could use the dock and how access and ongoing care could be arranged. No work is authorised by this proposal.

Elaine Cooper's support for open beach access sits alongside her preference for fewer visitors near her home. Amelia Hart wants safe walking routes and outdoor learning space. Thomas Avery wants beach access preserved without paths cutting through fragile dunes. These are three individual resident perspectives, not an agreed East Dune position.

The review would compare access on foot from existing homes and opportunities to rest with kayak carrying, boat unloading and possible berth use. It would consider whether these uses can share space safely. No berth, seating design, school activity or new public route is approved.

Parking and a wider approach may make visits easier while increasing pressure on dunes, coastal vegetation and nearby homes. A narrow route may reduce that pressure yet leave some people unable to use it comfortably. The options need to describe both consequences rather than assuming that one design meets every need.

A cottage owner's hope for priority to a boat berth after helping pay is part of the disagreement. Cost-sharing would need to distinguish repair costs, future maintenance and who benefits, including people unable to contribute money or time. Contributions give no automatic berth, public access or other new right. No payment or volunteer scheme is established.

Dock ownership, existing use agreements, management duties and the person or body entitled to decide are unresolved. These would need to be identified and relevant permissions confirmed before repairs or any invitation promising access. Living nearby, visiting or discussing the proposal creates no ownership, membership or decision-making authority.

Ruth and Ellis could contribute as visitors with experience of walking access and neighbourhood discussions. They are not appointed representatives, and Quayside House Association has no mandate for East Dune. Their involvement remains a possibility; no participation or organisational relationship is created.

Any later choice would need to explain the repair options, effects on dunes and neighbours, proposed cost-sharing and maintenance after storms. The outcome, budget, funding, timetable and allocation of space all remain open. There is no registration, payment collection or commitment to take part.

The accompanying news story links to East Dune and the three existing resident profiles. This proposal records the questions without settling them.
